Eduardo Rodriguez Montero, M.Sc. Rodriguez Montero received the B.Sc. in Electromechanical Engineering from the Pontificial Comillas University and the M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Denmark Technical University in Madrid, 2015 and Copenhagen, 2017, respectively. He is currently working as research assistant towards his Ph.D on sensorless AC machine control at Vienna University of Technology at Department of Energy Systems and Electrical Drives.

Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Markus A. Vogelsberger. Markus A. Vogelsberger received the Dipl.-Ing. (with honor) and Dr.Techn/PhD. (with honor) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He has been a scientific research assistant at the Institute of Electrical Drives and Machines, TU-Vienna, where he has been engaged in several industrial and scientific R&D projects. He joined Georgia Institute of Technology University, Atlanta/USA for study and research activities in 2006 and 2008, respectively. Dr. Vogelsberger has received 5 IEEE Prize Paper Awards and was Winner of BT Global Innovation Award in 2015. He has co-authored more than 85 scientific publications in refereed journals and international conferences. In November 2020 IEC-International Standards Organisation (IEC-International Electrotechnical Commission) appointed Dr. Vogelsberger to take over the office of Convenor position of the international standard IEC 60349 (Electric traction - Rotating electrical machines for rail and road vehicles). Since 2011, he is with ALSTOM group (Bombardier Transportation joined the Alstom Group), Vienna, Austria in various positions. Currently he is acting as Product Manager R&D and Innovation/Technology including IPR-Management in ALSTOM group - unit Components and Bogies/Drives in global platform/Components division. His fields of interest include traction motors, power electronics and multidisciplinary drives R&D-Projects. In particular, currently his focus as responsible R&D-Coordinator for Drives is on the research and managing of high innovative topics like state-of-the-art motor insulation (withstanding stress - based on modern high du/dt converter supply) and speed sensorless drives (RSD) strategies for ac traction applications, as well as on interdisciplinary & multi objective R&D Cooperation Projects together with well-known partners from academic and industry.

Ao. Univ. Prof. Dr. Thomas Wolbank. Thomas Wolbank received the doctoral degree and the Ao. Prof. degree from Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, in 1996 and 2004, respectively. At present, he is with the Department of Energy Systems and Electrical Drives at the Vienna University of Technology. His research interests include saliency-based sensorless control of ac drives, dynamic properties and condition monitoring of inverter fed machines, transient electrical behaviour of ac machines. He has co-authored more than 170 papers in refereed journals and international conferences.

Dipl. Ing. Gerald Newesely. Gerald Newesely is acting as Bid Support Director in Platform “Light Rail” at ALSTOM Transport, has started in Bombardier Transportation Austria, Vienna, in 2002. Since the company acquisition by Alstom, his responsibilities were in Customer Demand and Market Trend analyses for development-target setting as well as Innovation Management and coordination of R&D. In the new position, the focus is on strategic Bid Planning and governance as well as support of the strategic product development. Gerald holds a master’s degree in “Mechanical Engineering and Economics” of Technical University Vienna.
